Hello, we are Maggie and Cara!
We are Communication Studies majors at Rowan University. We are fans of Disney and feminists. Our goal is to shine a critical light on Disney princesses. Investigating intersections of gender, class, and race, we will expose the power dynamics embedded within Disney princess films. We feel everyone, especially females, should be aware of the messages regarding conventional behaviors, attitudes, and aspirations Disney princesses promote. Advocating choice, we believe a love of Disney can be combined with a feminist belief system as long as we have an understanding that we are not required to follow the path of a princess in order to achieve happiness.
We desire for everyone to feel a sense of empowerment and to dream big.
